President Akufo-Addo has unveiled a new policy for the National Service Scheme that is set to run from 2024 to 2034.

The primary aim of this policy is to equip service personnel with essential skills and practical entrepreneurial training to enhance their readiness for the job market post-service.

Moreover, the policy aims to instill national values and civic responsibility in service personnel, with a focus on promoting national unity and a shared sense of citizenship. During the launch of the policy in Accra on April 15, President Akufo-Addo emphasized the government’s commitment to providing the necessary resources for the effective implementation of the policy.

The President stated that the policy marks a significant shift in transforming the National Service Scheme from simply mobilizing and deploying young graduates to becoming a world-class institution that prepares service personnel for success in their professional endeavors.

This new policy document provides a clear direction for the scheme’s delivery, aligning it with the government’s agenda to ensure that service personnel are well-prepared for the transition from academia to the workforce.

The National Service Scheme’s management expressed their enthusiasm for the policy, highlighting its role in complementing the government’s employment agenda.

Executive Director of the National Service Scheme, Osei Essibey Antwi, emphasized that the policy will not only empower personnel to become self-employed and create job opportunities for others but also prepare them for future employment prospects.
