Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta’s name has been penciled in by President Akufo-Addo for an international assignment on Ghana’s economy.

As part of a significant government change, President Akufo-Addo dismissed Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta today.
Ken Ofori-Atta will be replaced as minister of state for finance by Mohammed Amin Adam.
The decision was made with less than a year remaining in President Nana Akufo-Addo’s second and last term of office, and in the midst of growing demand to remove Ofori-Atta because of the nation’s present economic difficulties.
A $3 billion rescue has been offered by the International Monetary Fund.
Additional noteworthy shuffle changes include the dismissal of Ministers of Health Kwaku Agyemang Manu, Interior Ambrose Dery, Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation Kwaku Afriyie, and Roads and Highways Kwasi Amoako-Atta.
Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the minister of information, was transferred to the ministry of housing, and his deputy, Fatimatu Abubakar, assumed the position.
The change has impacted thirteen ministers in the West African nation, including two regional and ten Cabinet members.
Before taking office, the new appointees still need to pass a legislative screening process.
