Edem Agbana, the parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for Ketu North, has stated that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia cannot shirk accountability for President Akufo-Addo’s inadequacies.
Mr. Agbana contends that since Dr. Bawumia served as Vice President during the Akufo-Addo administration, he cannot be held blameless for the economic difficulties the country had while the New Patriotic Party was in power.
The former NDC deputy national youth organizer stressed in a media interview that Dr. Bawumia was directly responsible for Ghana’s economic woes.
He claimed that Dr. Bawumia and President Akufo-Addo are inextricably linked to the circumstance and cannot be separated.
Mr. Agbana went on to say that Dr. Bawumia will fail in any attempt to avoid responsibility.
He referred to earlier remarks made by President Akufo-Addo, in which he acknowledged Dr. Bawumia’s proficiency in economics and gave him charge of the country’s finances.
Mr. Agbana emphasized that Dr. Bawumia is unable to abruptly disassociate himself from the administration’s appalling results after seven years of defending its performance.
He compares President Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia to conjoined or Siamese twins, saying that they are entwined. He underlined that they are inseparable and that Dr. Bawumia cannot abdicate his accountability for the actions of the administration.
