In the Eastern Region, at Akropong -Akuapem, a new library has opened. With assistance from various partners, First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo is working to construct 15 libraries across the nation through the Rebecca Foundation, the 13th of which is now under construction.
The goal of the library project is to encourage pupils to read by giving them access to appropriate, engaging, and pertinent reading materials that will broaden their knowledge in an appropriate setting.
The library is well-stocked and furnished with furniture that is appropriate for its intended use, which includes individuals with disabilities.
In addition, it features a printer and ten computers that are online.
Facilities with subterranean water supplied by a water tank exist that are also accessible to people with disabilities. The librarian who will oversee the institution has also had a living residence constructed for them.
Numerous people involved in the education sector attended the ceremony held last Saturday in Akropong to officially open the library.
Along with thanking the local assembly and the people of Akuapem for their amazing support, the First Lady also acknowledged the Okuapehene, Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III.
As this state-of-the-art library facility near Akropong-Akuapem in the Eastern Region nears completion, I am quite excited. According to Mrs. Akufo-Addo, “this is definitely a dream come true.”
