Ghana’s national team is currently facing another group stage withdrawal from the competition after drawing with Mozambique, which led to a confrontation between players and officials of the squad and Ghanaian media covering the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.

There were arguments and physical altercations as a result of the journalist’s rejection when they tried to speak with officials and players at the mixed zone following the game. The intervention of CAF security authorities was necessary.

A video was sighted by Joy Sports that showed defender Mohammed Salisu in a heated altercation with another journalist, while some Ghanaian journalists were heard cursing at the players and the coach in a video that journalist Saddick Adams shared on social media.

Ghana after leading by two goals past the ninetieth minute, the Black Stars conceded two goals late in the game on Monday night in Abidjan, forcing a 2-2 draw with the country of Southern Africa.

First, when captain Andre Ayew was adjudicated to have handled the ball in the penalty box, Mozambique scored from the penalty kick. Mozambique’s Geny Catama scored a goal.

Mozambique was given a corner kick when goaltender Richard Ofori botched an attempt, and they took use of it to tie the score. Atletico Madrid defender Reinildo Mandava, who was also responsible for Ghana’s second penalty, reached the highest position to head past Ofori in the fourth minute of extra time.

Ghana now is in third position in Group B after only two points from their three games; a major miracle would be required for them to advance to the round of 16.
