A Ghanaian supporter whose identity is yet to be identified has been arrested for attacking the head coach of the Ghana National team, Christopher William Gerard Hughton, popularly known as Chris Hughton.
According to a ‘X’ post by Ghanaian sports journalist, Saddick Adams on Sunday, January 14, 2023, an unidentified Ghananian supporter has been arrested for attacking coach Chris Hughton at the team’s hotel.
He added in his report that the situation was intensed that it took the intervention of some Ghanaian diplomats who were around to save the coach from being brutalized. He added that the unidentified man has been handed to the Ivorian Police.
His post reads: “BREAK: One member of the Ghanaian supporters in Abidjan has been arrested for an attack on coach Chris Hughton at the team’s hotel.

This comes after the Black Stars of Ghana lost the opening group match to Cape Verde in a 1 – 2 defeat. Ghanaian supporters blamed the head coach for the poor performance by the Black stars.
According to most Ghanaians, he should resign after the tournament.
