Between 1973 and 1977, she was elected to the Dallas City Council three times.
According to the Dallas Morning News, Harris was a fierce environmental, public transportation and reproductive-rights supporter who didn’t mince words.
She died on February 19, 2022 of natural causes in her North Dallas home.
She was 98 years old.
