Adejumoke Aderounmu, a Nollywood actress best known for her role as “Esther” in Funke Akindele’s renowned TV series Jenifa’s Diary, has died.
Her brother, Adeola Aderounmu, revealed her death in a mysterious Instagram post written, “You are in a better place now, my sister,” beside Aderounmu’s obituary photo.
Also, a friend of the deceased cousin, Oluwabanke Funmi, said on Twitter, “Rest in peace, Aderounmu Adejumoke.”
“Waited hours for her cousin to delete her post and say it was a prank or a mistake but…,” she added in her post.
The actress died on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at a private hospital. She was born on March 26, 1984.
However, a burial ceremony for Aderounmu Adejumoke was performed at Owu Baptist Church in the Totoro region of Abeokuta, Ogun state.
Aderounmu’s acting career began in her birthplace of Abeokuta, where she was born into a five-member family. After finishing her schooling, she began acting professionally, creating a name for herself in the field.
Her breakout performance came in 2016, when she played Esther in “Jenifa’s Diary,” which won her over both fans and critics. Adejumoke’s depiction of the feisty and tenacious Esther demonstrated her flexibility as an actor, winning her critical acclaim and a place in viewers’ hearts.
Throughout her career, Aderounmu has appeared in over 10 films, both in English and Yoruba, proving her versatility and devotion.
The cause of her death has not yet been made public.
