Adam Johnson(hockey player) dies aged 29: Cause of death, obituary and funeral arrangements

American hockey player Adam Johnson has died at the age of 29 on October 28, 2023. The player appeared in the 13 NHL games with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2019 and 2020, has died after his neck was cut by a skate blade during a game in England on Saturday, his team said.

Adam Johnson died as a result of a struck in the neck by an ice hockey blade during the match between Nottingham Panthers and Sheffield Steelers at Utilita Arena Sheffield on Saturday night.

Witnesses have claimed the ‘horrible’ accident was a ‘one in a million chance occurrence’ that will ‘probably never happen again’.

The 29-year-old who hails from Minnesota in the US, was rushed to Sheffield’s Northern General Hospital but died a short time later.

Adam Johnson was born June 22, 1994, in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, to Susan Kari and Davey Johnson. He played junior hockey in the United States Hockey League (USHL) with the Indiana Ice and Sioux City Musketeers and was named a USHL All-Star in 2015 after he graduated from high school. Undrafted, he played two seasons of collegiate hockey with the University of Minnesota Duluth in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC).

Adam Johnson attended the Pittsburgh Penguins prospect development camp before opting to conclude his collegiate career early, agreeing to a two-year, entry-level contract with the Penguins on July 6, 2017.
