In honor of its 75th anniversary, Accra Technical University (ATU) is urging its alumni to use their technical expertise to solve problems in their local communities.
The call was made by Gifty Twum-Ampofo, the Deputy Minister of Education in charge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
She also gave master craftsmen advice on how to take use of the digital era to learn new skills and how to make themselves available for training.
According to her, skilled craftsmen need to possess the necessary abilities to aid in the development of the country.
“Be humble enough to unlearn what you already know and learn new things at all times, and make yourselves available for all forms of training,” the speaker advised.
She was speaking at the ATU’s 75th anniversary launch in Accra yesterday on behalf of sector minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum.
The topic of discussion was “75 years of impacting society and driving innovation.”
The institution’s dedication to maintaining high academic standards and its commitment to being a reliable source of academic work and TVET were reflected in the anniversary logo, which was introduced at the occasion. Its colors were metallic gold and Bahama blue.
Games, a public lecture and CEO series, a conference of vice chancellors, an awards ceremony and supper, a fashion show and grand exhibition, an anniversary concert, and an evening of thankfulness are all part of the celebration.
