Some National Democratic Congress (NDC) MPs and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, have been denied access to the National Cathedral site.

On March 6, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., Mr. Ablakwa was scheduled to speak to the people of Ghana about the current status of the project.

Nonetheless, there was a significant security presence before to the appointed hour, including Military Police officers stationed at the location with barricades in place.

The scenario on the ground has been confirmed by a video that Adomonline.com intercepted.

The video showed Mr. Ablakwa and other MPs arguing with a Military Police over the state of affairs, which infuriated them.

The unidentified staff member responded by saying he was stationed to make sure no one entered the area because it was still under renovation.

Unsatisfied with the justification, Ningo-Prampram MP Sam George enquired as to who was responsible for the deployment but the soldier was unable to respond.
