The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) has clarified the appointment of one Abena Amoah as co-chair of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s Manifesto Committee, who is not its managing director.
Abena is to serve on the Committee on Economy.
GSE asserts that its director cannot be the aforementioned Abena Amoah because she has not been contacted, offered, or discussed any such appointment.
We would like to make it clear that the woman identified as Ms. Abena Amoah on the list is not the managing director of the Ghana Stock Exchange. A portion of the disclaimer stated, “Our Ms. Abena Amoah has not been approached, nor has there been any discussion or agreement on the subject matter with the campaign team.”
The public, issuers, market participants, and stakeholders have all received additional assurances from GSE that the Ghana Stock Exchange and its management will remain politically neutral.
The statement went on, “We remain committed to fulfilling our mandate of offering a strong platform for capital raising and investment for economic prosperity to all Ghanaians and our international stakeholders.”
