After being given the opportunity to play the main stage of a rock festival in Coventry, a guitarist got down on one knee in front of his fiancée.
Eight months ago, Josh Sellis, 28, decided to propose to Liv Gardner, 26, after learning that their band, Monastery, had won a competition to perform on a festival’s main stage.
The duo started the band right before lockdown and have been dating for about four years.
The couple’s hometown of Coventry’s three-day Godiva Calling festival chose them to perform on its main stage.
To prevent Liv, who works in public relations, from discovering the ring, Josh purchased it in August and concealed it in his nightstand.
In the group, which also includes two other people, the couple sings and plays guitar.
On September 2 during the festival, which featured Bananarama, The Libertines, and Tom Grennan as headliners, he got down on one knee and was captured on camera.
Josh, who works in sales for university programs, recalled the strain of popping the question: “She gave me the incorrect hand, didn’t say anything, and looked like a rabbit in the headlights.”
