Laar’s comments came after Dr Bawumia outlined his vision for Ghana during a speech in Accra on February 7.
During his address, the NPP flagbearer urged Ghanaians to vote for him in the upcoming election to enable him to implement policies for the country, using the analogy of a driver’s mate.
Dr Bawumia emphasized that if elected president, he would have the authority to pursue his vision and priorities for the nation.
However, Laar, speaking on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning, expressed skepticism about Dr Bawumia’s ability to lead the country effectively.
He stated, “Indeed, he’s a mate, and a mate can never be a driver, because a mate is a mate. You have to be a co-pilot to be able to pilot a plane, if he (Bawumia) wants to be a pilot he makes time and goes to an aviation school.”
Laar also highlighted specific policies and decisions made by the Vice President that he believes demonstrate his unsuitability for the role.
According to Laar, Dr Bawumia lacks the necessary experience and leadership qualities required to assume the position of president.
He further added, “If we put a man like Dr Bawumia on the streets of this country, he’ll end up killing pedestrians because he has no credentials, skills, and capacity to drive.”
