Born on  March 22, 1934, in Homestead, Pennsylvania, United States, former President pro tempore of the United States Senate who happens to be the longest-serving Republican U.S. senator in history, Orrin Grant Hatch has died on Sunday, April 24, 2022. 

He died at the age of 88 years having served in the U.S Senate for 42 years – from 1977 to 2019.

He was a member of the Republican Party.

His death was announced by his foundation, Hatch Foundation in a release but his cause of death was not disclosed.

Hatch was a married man who got married to Elaine Hatch in 1957 and have six kids together namely Scott Hatch, Alysa Hatch, Brent Hatch, Jesse Hatch, Marcia Hatch, and Kimberly Hatch.

Did Orrin Hatch run for president?

Hatch did not run for president, however, in 2000, Hatch sought the Republican presidential nomination.

After finishing last in the Iowa caucuses, he withdrew his candidacy on January 27, 2000, and endorsed the eventual winner George W. Bush.

Why did Orrin Hatch retire from the senate?

Hatch retired in 2019 after several years of serving in the U.S Senate.

His reason for retiring has not been made known to date but it is believed that he retired to spend some time with his family.
