The legendary American rock and roll singer and drummer, Bobby Rydell, has passed away at age 79 on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at Jefferson Hospital.
Bobby Rydell started his music career when he was a teenager and was considered a teen idol in the early 1960s.
Bobby became the youngest person ever to make it to the headline of the famous Copacabana in New York.
He was also into acting and was featured in movies like “Because They’re Young” with “Swingin’ School” and “Bye, Bye Birdie” in 1963 where Bobby played the role of a teen heartthrob.
Some of his most popular songs were, “Forget Him”, “Wild One”, “Sway” and “Volare”.
In 1959, Bobby’s song “Kissin’ Time” made it onto the top 20 and for the next four years, he was a regular on the music charts.
He had 19 Top 40 hits and 29 songs on The Billboard Hot 100.
Rydell’s top records have sold a stunning total of a whooping sum of over 25 million records.

However, despite all these great achievements and exhibitions of great talent, Bobby Rydell was not inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

On December 20, 2014, Bobby Rydell posted on his Facebook page asking why he had never been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, with a picture of himself and Chubby Checker.
