There was a time when sportsmen and women always got attention to themselves, but in recent years, their families have also taken centre stage.
American football coach Mike McDaniel is one whose family hasn’t escaped the eye of the media. The 39-year-old is married to Katie McDaniel, with the couple blessed with a daughter called Ayla June.
When Mike was appointed as head coach of the Miami Dolphins, the first people he thanked were his wife and daughter.
“Obviously, my family. My wife, Katie McDaniel. We’ve come a long way. We’ve got a long way to go,” he said.
“Don’t do that to me, I’m trying to do a press conference. (laughter) And my daughter Ayla June McDaniel. You are a miracle and I can’t wait to see what you grow into.”
Of course, Mike is usually the one who courts attention due to his job in the NFL but Katie isn’t far off and has had her moments too in the past.
Who is Katie Hemstalk?
Katie Hemstalk and Mike McDaniel got married in 2014 in Ashburn, Virginia. Katie is in the beauty industry.
According to records on the California Department of Consumer Affairs website, she is also a licensed cosmetologist and esthetician.
She has no official social media accounts and usually prefers to keep her business and other family matters private. That, though, does not stop her from attending functions with her husband.
Katie previously worked as a maintenance manager for the California Department of Transportation, having been raised in the small city of Oroville. She is the only child of her parents.
