Hearts of Oak head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has expressed his frustrations with the lack of professionalism in the contracts signed by players in the Ghana Premier League. In a recent press conference, the Ivorian manager criticized football administrators in the country for allowing players to sign contracts that end at inconvenient times.

Ouattara pointed out that it is uncommon for player contracts to expire just before the start of the league season, emphasizing that it is not a professional practice. He highlighted the detrimental impact this can have on clubs, especially when players leave during crucial periods of the season due to the terms of their contracts.

Determined to improve Hearts of Oak’s performance after finishing in the bottom half of the table in the previous season, Ouattara has been working to strengthen the squad. The club has already secured the services of goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, Samuel Amofa, and former Nations FC duo Asamoah Boateng Afriyie and Michael Awuah Mensah ahead of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.

As Hearts of Oak prepare for the upcoming season, Ouattara is focused on ensuring that the team is not hampered by the challenges posed by unprofessional contracts. By addressing these issues, he hopes to set a new standard for player agreements in the Ghanaian football landscape.
