Ghanaian music duo, Keche, has added their voice to the ongoing debate about the lack of substantial royalties being paid to musicians by GHAMRO.
Despite having numerous hit songs, Keche revealed that they have never received more than GHC500 in royalties from GHAMRO.
In an interview with Shobiz TV in Accra, Keche expressed their frustration at the situation, stating that even top artistes like Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, and Stonebwoy have not received royalties amounting to GHC10,000 or more.
Keche raised concerns about the effectiveness of GHAMRO and MUSIGA, questioning the lack of progress in addressing the issue of royalties for musicians. They also criticized the government for not providing enough support in resolving this issue.
With years of experience in the music industry and a string of hit songs to their name, Keche emphasized the need for musicians to receive fair compensation for their work.
They called for more transparency and accountability from GHAMRO and other music industry bodies in ensuring that artists receive their rightful dues.
