TGMA to reward ‘Artiste of the Year’ with paid events, starting with Stonebwoy

Charterhouse Productions Ltd, the organisers of the prestigious Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), have made a groundbreaking announcement regarding the Artist of the Year (AOTY) category.

Moving forward, the AOTY will be rewarded with fully paid events, a move that marks a significant shift in the recognition of Ghanaian musical talent.

The announcement was made by Robert Klah, the Head of Public Events and Communication at Charterhouse, during the Industry Mixer of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards on Saturday, July 13. The initiative will kick off with Stonebwoy, the celebrated artist who clinched the 25th TGMA Artiste of the Year title.

In his address at the Industry Mixer, Mr. Klah highlighted the partnership with Telecel Ghana, stating, “Telecel Ghana proudly sponsoring the TGMA is about to elevate the game for Artiste of the Year from today onwards.” He went on to reveal that Telecel will fully cover the expenses for multiple paid events for the Artiste of the Year, in addition to other products and benefits.

The TGMA winners were also presented with personalized plaques representing their respective categories during the event, adding a special touch to their achievement. The Telecel Ghana Music Awards, a collaboration between Charterhouse Productions Ltd and Telecel, is known for its celebration of Ghanaian musical talent and the recognition of excellence in the industry.

This year’s Industry Mixer featured electrifying performances by artists like Stonebwoy, Adane Best, and others, creating an unforgettable night of music and celebration. Stonebwoy’s win as the ‘Artist of the Year’ marked his second time clinching the prestigious title, solidifying his status as one of Ghana’s top musicians.

The 25th TGMA awards night, held on 1st June 2024 at the Grand Arena, Accra International Conference Centre, was a star-studded affair hosted by Chris Atoh and Naa Ashorkor. The event featured captivating performances by King Paluta, Efya Nokturnal, and Kuami Eugene, among others, showcasing the vibrant music scene in Ghana.

One of the highlights of the evening was the legendary Highlife artist Amakye Dede receiving a lifetime achievement award, honored with renditions of his classic songs by various acts before gracing the stage himself.

The competition for the coveted “Artiste of the Year” award was fierce, with top nominees such as Black Sherif, King Promise, Kuami Eugene, Nacee, Sarkodie, and Stonebwoy vying for the prestigious title, showcasing the depth of talent in the Ghanaian music industry.
