A woman in Missouri has been charged with first-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action for allegedly poisoning her husband by spiking his Mountain Dew with Roundup.
Michelle Y. Peters, 47, admitted that she should have just divorced her husband instead of poisoning him because he was not appreciative of the 50th birthday party she threw for him.
The husband became suspicious after noticing an odd taste in his Mountain Dew and experiencing symptoms like diarrhea, vomiting, and a sore throat.
He discovered that the beverage tasted normal when consumed outside of his home but had a strange taste when drank from bottles stored in the garage. After reviewing footage from a security camera in the garage, he saw his wife adding Roundup weed killer to the soda bottles.
Fearing for his life, the husband shared the incriminating video with someone in case he died from the poisoning. He also began storing untampered bottles of Mountain Dew in the refrigerator, but his wife still managed to add Roundup to the drinks.
When confronted, she initially denied the allegations but eventually confessed, stating that she did it out of anger for her husband’s lack of appreciation.
Roundup contains glyphosate, which can lead to organ failure and death if ingested. Michelle Y. Peters is currently held at the Laclede County Detention Center without bond. This shocking incident serves as a reminder of the extreme consequences of domestic disputes and the importance of seeking healthier ways of resolving conflicts in relationships.
