Switzerland international Kwadwo Duah, with Ghanaian heritage, recently made headlines by scoring in the 2024 European Championship and defining it as a monumental moment for his family.
Duah, who was born in London to Ghanaian parents before moving to Switzerland at a young age, made his senior international debut in June during a friendly match against Estonia. This marked the beginning of his impactful journey with the Swiss national team.
During Switzerland’s Euro 2024 match against Hungary, Duah was in the starting lineup and netted the team’s first goal in a 3-1 victory. This achievement brought immense joy and pride to his family.
Reflecting on this milestone, Duah expressed his gratitude, stating, “It was a big moment for my family and me. To score the first goal for Switzerland in a European Championship is something not everyone gets to experience, and we were all overjoyed.”
He also shared insight into his family’s background, saying, “I was born in London but we no longer have family there. My mum and dad originally hailed from Ghana, but they decided to move to England for better opportunities.”
Despite his success on the field, Duah, who currently plays for Ludogoret Razgrad in Bulgaria, experienced disappointment as Switzerland suffered a heartbreaking loss to England in the Euro 2024 quarter-finals.
Despite this setback, Duah’s performance in the championship and his significant goal has undoubtedly left a lasting impact on his family and the Swiss national team.
