A Texas man, Juan Morgan Munoz, found himself in a horrifying situation after hitting and killing a pedestrian while driving under the influence. What’s even more chilling is that he proceeded to drive to work with the victim’s severed arm in the passenger seat of his vehicle.
Munoz, 31, has been charged with felony DWI and collision involving death by the Dallas Police Department. Reports suggest that additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation unfolds.
After fleeing the scene of the fatal accident, Munoz allegedly called 911 more than 30 minutes later to report the incident. The victim, who remains unidentified, was killed around 12:30 a.m early Saturday morning.
Despite admitting to hitting the victim near Storey Lane and I-35E, Munoz chose to continue on his way to work approximately a mile away. Authorities eventually caught up with him at his job at Maaco Auto Body Shop, where they discovered his white BMW with the victim’s severed arm on the front passenger seat.
Munoz displayed clear signs of intoxication, including glassy/watery eyes, slurred speech, and a strong odor of alcohol. A breathalyzer test revealed a blood alcohol content of .179, well over the legal limit.
Furthermore, Munoz confessed to consuming cocaine before the incident, adding another layer of recklessness to his actions. The victim’s identity remains unknown as the investigation continues.
