Banning celebrities from alcohol ads archaic – George Quaye

Media personality George Quaye, has expressed dissatisfaction with the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the ban on notable figures from advertising alcoholic beverages in the country.

Quaye argued that it would have been more beneficial for the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) to lift the ban, which has been enforced since 2015.

This decision comes after the Supreme Court upheld the ban on celebrities from advertising alcoholic beverages in the country. Quaye expressed his disappointment, calling the decision “archaic” and suggesting that it would have been better for the FDA to lift the ban. The ban has been in place since 2015, and Quaye believes that allowing celebrities to endorse alcohol brands would not have a negative impact on society.

He argued that celebrities have the right to choose the endorsements they take on, and that banning them from alcohol ads is a violation of their freedom of choice. Quaye also noted that the ban does not apply to other products with potential negative impacts, such as fast food and sugary drinks.

Quaye’s comments come at a time when the role of celebrities in advertising is being scrutinized, with many questioning the influence they have on their followers. However, Quaye believes that celebrities should be given the freedom to make their own decisions when it comes to endorsements.
