Bishop Lamor Whitehead, a prominent religious leader in Brooklyn, New York, has recently found himself in a whirlwind of legal trouble. Known for founding the Leaders of Tomorrow International Churches, Whitehead has built a following of over 1.3 million people on Instagram.
The Bishop, born in 1978, became a licensed New York State chaplain and certified marriage and funeral officiant. He founded his church in 2014 intending to help members develop a relationship with Jesus Christ and promote family and community development through the principles of the Bible.
Despite his flashy lifestyle, complete with expensive jewelry and a Rolls Royce, Whitehead’s legal woes began to unfold in March 2024. He was found guilty of wire fraud, attempted extortion, and lying to the FBI. The charges included duping an elderly woman out of her retirement savings and attempting to extort a Bronx-based business owner.
Whitehead’s attorney, Dawn Flori, plans to appeal the verdict, claiming that the evidence presented did not support the charges. Nevertheless, in June 2024, Whitehead was sentenced to nine years in prison by Judge Lorna G. Schofield.
The Bishop’s wife, Asia DosReis-Whitehead, a pastor herself, has also made headlines for her advocacy work empowering women after a health scare. The couple shares four children.
Despite his fall from grace, Whitehead’s net worth is estimated to be $2 million, according to Legitnetworth.
