Black Stars captain Thomas Partey has stressed the importance of focusing on their style of play as Ghana prepares to face Mali in the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier. The Arsenal midfielder expressed this sentiment during a press conference held in Bamako ahead of the crucial match.
Partey emphasized the need for the team to stop Mali’s key players and concentrate on their own game in order to secure the desired result. With Ghana currently sitting in fourth place in Group I after a mixed start to their World Cup qualifying campaign, the Black Stars are determined to bounce back and climb the standings.
After starting off with a promising 1-0 victory over Madagascar in Kumasi, Ghana suffered a setback with a 1-0 loss to Comoros in Moroni. The team is now focused on turning their fortunes around by claiming victories in their upcoming matches against Mali and the Central African Republic.
The qualifier against Mali is set to take place on June 6, 2024, at Stade 26 Mars in Bamako, with kick-off scheduled for 19:00. Following this match, Ghana will return home to host the Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on June 10, 2024.
With Partey leading the charge on the field, the Black Stars are determined to put in a strong performance and secure crucial wins as they look to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
