On December 9, 1973, American politician, advocate, and author, Stacey Yvonne Abrams was born.
Abrams is the national face of the voting rights movement. She has formed and inspired a variety of organizations committed to voter registration and mobilization, particularly among young people and people of color.
Abrams has received several honors for her work as a public servant, including the John F. Kennedy New Frontier Award (2012) and the Georgia AFL-Friend CIO’s of Labor Award.
In February 2021, she was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Abrams also serves on the boards of a number of educational and charitable organizations.
