Small-town Indiana janitor, Richard Goodall, has taken America’s Got Talent Season 19 by storm with his powerful rendition of Journey’s Don’t Stop Believin’.
Despite failing to make it past the first round of auditions back in 2009, Goodall’s recent performance earned him two standing ovations, unanimous support from the judges, and a Golden Buzzer from Heidi Klum.
This 55-year-old janitor from Terre Haute, Indiana, wowed the audience and judges with his incredible talent. Goodall, who has been cleaning schools for 23 years, revealed that his love for music began in his bedroom with a “Radio Shack stereo.”
His passion for singing eventually led him to audition for America’s Got Talent, where he captured the hearts of viewers across the country.
Goodall’s performance went viral after a previous school performance caught the attention of Journey’s former frontman, Steve Perry.
Despite feeling nervous before his audition, Goodall found comfort in the familiar tunes of Journey, Foreigner, and Survivor. His bandmate, Tom Greenberg, praised Goodall as “the best of the best,” highlighting his undeniable talent.
The judges were blown away by Goodall’s performance, with Simon Cowell calling him his hero and Sofia Vergara declaring that America will love him.
When Heidi Klum hit the Golden Buzzer, confetti rained down on stage as Goodall became emotional, thanking his fans and expressing his gratitude for the opportunity.
The Golden Buzzer twist on America’s Got Talent Season 19 allowed each judge to send two acts straight to the live shows in Hollywood.
Goodall’s powerful performance secured him a spot in the next round, where he will continue to showcase his remarkable talent and inspire audiences nationwide.
