Ghanaian musician and entrepreneur, D-Black, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the current state of the economy in Ghana. In a tweet on May 30, D-Black lamented about the depreciation of the cedi, high unemployment rates, and soaring food prices under the Akufo-Addo government.
According to the ‘Enjoyment Minister’, this is the worst he has ever seen the country’s economy. He highlighted the lack of jobs for the youth, the struggles faced by entrepreneurs, and the continuous rise in the cost of goods and services as major concerns.
D-Black’s frustrations mirror the sentiments of many Ghanaians who have been vocal about the economic hardships they are facing. The continuous depreciation of the cedi has only added to the burden, prompting calls for urgent government intervention.
Deputy Finance Minister, Stephen Amoah, defended the government’s handling of the cedi depreciation issue, stating that it has been a recurring problem across different administrations. He expressed confidence that Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia will implement long-term solutions to address the currency’s instability when he assumes the presidency.
As Ghanaians navigate through these challenging economic times, it is clear that there is a growing need for sustainable policies and interventions to stabilize the economy and improve the livelihoods of the citizens.
