The Minority in Parliament has expressed concerns over what they describe as a covert recruitment of party loyalists into the security services by the government.
Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minority Leader, alleged that NPP Parliamentary candidates have been given 30 slots each to handpick NPP supporters for positions within the Police and Army.
During a news conference in Parliament on May 20, Dr. Forson highlighted the lack of transparency in the recruitment process and called on President Akufo-Addo and the government to cease such undemocratic practices. He emphasized the importance of fairness and openness in the recruitment of personnel in the security sector.
Dr. Forson also emphasized the readiness of the Minority in Parliament to resist any attempts to manipulate the upcoming elections. He reassured the public of the commitment of National Democratic Congress MPs to safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process and preventing any actions that could jeopardize democracy.
The Minority Leader’s remarks come in the wake of increasing concerns about the influence of political affiliations in crucial institutions like the security services.
The Minority has vowed to remain vigilant and ensure that the recruitment process is free from partisan interests and adheres to the principles of meritocracy and fairness.
