Seidu Rafiwu, a contender for the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest distance covered by an individual on foot, recently shared some challenges he faced before embarking on his record attempt. Just a day before starting the attempt, a motorbike he borrowed was stolen, adding to the hurdles he had to overcome.
To make matters worse, Rafiwu’s mobile phone, which was crucial for tracking his record attempt and contained essential GWR details, malfunctioned after falling and damaging the screen. Despite these setbacks, Rafiwu was determined to push through and achieve his goal.
With quick thinking, Rafiwu’s team switched the tracking App to a new phone, causing a two-hour delay in starting the record attempt. However, this did not deter Rafiwu from completing his journey.
After embarking on his attempt on April 27, Rafiwu successfully completed the 383 km walk from Techiman to Accra in 96 hours, surpassing the previous record set in the USA in 1976. His determination and perseverance paid off as he achieved his goal and set a new record for the longest distance covered by foot.
