Lord Paper, the Ghanaian Afrobeats musician, also known as Michael Takyi-Frimpong, has opened up about still facing the repercussions of an explicit sex scene that was featured in his music video nine years ago.
Back in 2016, Lord Paper released a music video for his song ‘Ewurama’ which caused quite a stir due to its explicit content. The controversial video led to backlash and criticism from various quarters within the country.
In a recent interview with Accra-based Metro TV, Lord Paper revealed that he is still experiencing the aftermath of that particular music video. He expressed frustration at being blacklisted by certain media outlets and being denied opportunities to promote his music.
While some media houses have been supportive of him, Lord Paper feels that the industry as a whole is not giving him the love and support he needs to further his career. He mentioned instances where he was informed that he had been blacklisted at certain places, hindering his promotional efforts.
Despite apologizing for the controversial video and making efforts to learn from his mistakes, Lord Paper feels that he is unfairly judged based on his past actions. He emphasized that he has released new music that demonstrates his growth as an artist and believes that he should not be continuously punished for a video that was released almost a decade ago.
