Dreams FC’s dream of clinching the CAF Confederation Cup came to a halt on Sunday as they faced a tough defeat against Zamalek SC.

The Still Believe lads suffered a 3-0 loss at the Baba Yara Stadium in the second leg of their semifinal tie, following a goalless draw in Cairo.

The match saw Hamza Mathlouthi opening the scoring for Zamalek in the 12th minute, taking advantage of a defensive lapse from Dreams during a set piece. Samson Akinyoola doubled the lead 15 minutes later, putting more pressure on the home team.

Despite creating some opportunities, Dreams FC failed to convert their chances, with Zamalek heading into the break with a commanding lead.

In the second half, Mostafa Shalaby extended Zamalek’s lead to three goals, sealing the fate of Dreams FC in the competition.

Although the Dawu-based side made a late attempt to score a consolation goal, they were unable to break through Zamalek’s defense, ending their fairytale run in the CAF Confederation Cup.

The defeat marks the end of an impressive journey for Dreams FC in the competition, with the team showing resilience and determination throughout their campaign. Now, they will shift their focus to regrouping and preparing for future challenges in their quest for success on the continental stage.
