NPP Communications Director Richard Ahiagbah has criticized former President John Dramani Mahama, saying that he has no track record of asking serious questions.
Ahiagbah pointed out that during Mahama’s time in office, he failed to address important issues, such as when his staff mistakenly designated the President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, as the President of Ghana.
The comments from Ahiagbah came after Mahama expressed his concerns about a recent train accident on the Tema-Mpakadan railway line. Mahama mentioned that if he were still in power, he would be asking serious questions about the incident, particularly regarding the lack of track inspection before the test run on the new railway line.
In response, Ahiagbah argued that Mahama’s statement was hypocritical, as he failed to address the issue of incorrect presidential designation during his tenure. Ahiagbah emphasized that Mahama has a “zero track record” of asking important questions and suggested that serious inquiries are being made to identify those responsible for the train derailment.
The train accident occurred when a new DMU train encountered a stationary vehicle obstructing the railway track. The truck driver responsible for the obstruction, Abel Dzidotor, has been sentenced to six months in prison by the Juapong Circuit Court. Dzidotor pleaded guilty to charges of careless driving, unauthorized stopping, and causing unlawful damage, but denied failing to produce a driver’s license.
The case highlights the importance of accountability and the need for thorough investigations into incidents that put public safety at risk. It also underscores the responsibility of leaders to ask tough questions and ensure that such events are prevented in the future.
