Ghanaian midfielder Michael Baidoo had a tough evening as he was shown a red card during Elfsborg’s 3-0 loss to Hammarby in the Swedish Allsvenskan on Monday.

The match, which took place at the Tele2 Arena, saw Baidoo starting alongside Terry Yegbe and Jalal Abdulai for Elfsborg.

Although the head-to-head record between the two teams favored Elfsborg with 9 wins to Hammarby’s 6, it was Hammarby who dominated the game. Nahir Besara opened the scoring in the 49th minute with a right-footed shot from the center of the box, assisted by Viktor Djukanovic. Djukanovic himself found the back of the net in the 69th minute, before Jusef Erabi sealed the victory with a goal in the 76th minute.

To make matters worse for Baidoo, he was given a second yellow card in the 81st minute for a reckless challenge, leading to his dismissal from the game. Despite having played well in previous matches and contributing with a goal and an assist in the 2024 season, Baidoo’s performance on Monday was one to forget.

It was a disappointing outcome for Baidoo and Elfsborg, who will be looking to bounce back from this defeat in their next Allsvenskan fixture. The Ghanaian midfielder will be hoping to put this difficult game behind him and focus on helping his team secure positive results in the upcoming matches.
