Kenneth Agyei Kuranchie, dissatisfied with the electoral process that led to his loss in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primary in Okaikwei North, has decided to run as an independent candidate in the 2024 parliamentary elections. In an exclusive interview, Kuranchie expressed his determination to secure victory in the upcoming elections despite the challenges he may face.
Expressing his discontent with the way the parliamentary nomination system and primary process were conducted by the party, Kuranchie stated, “I am very deeply unhappy as to how the party bent rules and did away with laws in order to make certain things possible. So, that also informs my decision to leave the political party.”
Acknowledging the tough competition he will face as an independent candidate against two major political parties in Ghana, Kuranchie admitted that he does not have the same level of organizational structure as they do. However, he emphasized his commitment to working hard, building his own organization, making friends, and establishing structures to give himself a fighting chance against the established parties.
With a clear determination to challenge the status quo and make a mark in the political landscape, Kuranchie is ready to take on the tough road ahead in his quest for victory in the 2024 parliamentary elections.
