Ghanaian poet and playwright, Chief Moomen, is currently in the United States of America as part of the 2024 Global Programme by Eisenhower Fellowships.
Chief Moomen took to Facebook to express his pride and gratitude for being selected among hundreds of applicants for this prestigious opportunity.
During his six-week stay in the US, Chief Moomen will be visiting eight different States, engaging with professionals in the American theatre industry, including producers, directors, academics, and policymakers. He looks forward to gaining valuable insights and connections that will help further develop his project, The Mansa World.
One of the highlights of his trip includes spending time on Broadway, where he will have the chance to watch major productions, interact with senior executives, and showcase his own performances and presentations about The Mansa World on various platforms.
Chief Moomen sees this fellowship as a significant opportunity to expand his vision and make a positive impact on Africa’s creative economy. He expressed his gratitude to everyone who has supported him on his journey and believes that his dream is slowly but surely becoming a reality.
Chief Moomen is recognized as one of Ghana’s innovative playwrights, pushing boundaries with his work. Recently, he attended the World Conference on Culture and Arts Education in Abu Dhabi, following the launch of his initiative, The Mansa World. This initiative aims to showcase African history and heritage through various forms of content, including theatre and film, for a global audience.
The Mansa World was officially launched at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris in October 2023, solidifying Chief Moomen’s commitment to promoting African culture and storytelling on an international platform.
