On Friday, March 8, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia offered condolences to the family of John Kumah, the deputy finance minister, at his Accra home.
John Kumah passed away on Thursday, March 7, following a brief illness.
Using the occasion, Bawumia also signed the book of condolences, calling the late deputy Finance Minister a bright and rising star.
According to his post on Facebook, “Indeed, Ghana and the NPP have lost a hardworking son. My deepest condolences to Lilian and the children, his mother, the entire family, and all loved ones. John, Damirifa Due!,” he wrote.
A number of dignitaries, including the chairman of the New Patriotic Party and Chief of Staff Akosua Frema Osei Opare, joined the vice president.
Dr. Kumah was well-known for his work in constituency development while serving as the MP for Ejisu.
Before his passing, he was widely recognized as the NPP’s congressional contender for the 2024 elections.
The late politician, who oversaw the National Enterpreneurship and Innovation program, left a significant legacy of public service.
