Sarah Everard, a 33-year-old market manager from Brixton, London, met a tragic end in 2021 at the hands of former Met Police constable Wayne Couzens.
Sarah, who was originally from York, had moved to London for work and was described as an exceptional friend who always put others first.
In the months following her death, Sarah’s family released previously unseen pictures of her for a new documentary, which is set to air just days after the three year anniversary of her murder.
Her family paid tribute to her as a bright, beautiful, strong, and principled individual who brought joy to their lives.
Sarah went missing in March 2021 after leaving a friend’s house in Clapham. Detectives later charged Wayne Couzens with her kidnapping, rape, and murder.
Her body was found in a woodland in Kent, and post-mortem results revealed that she died from compression to the neck.
Couzens, a former Met Police officer, pleaded guilty to his crimes in September 2021 and received a whole-life order, ensuring he will die in prison without the possibility of parole.
Additionally, he was handed an additional 19 months for three indecent exposure offenses.
The landmark Angiolini Inquiry report, released in February 2024, exposed Couzens for trying to kidnap a woman at knifepoint and sexually assaulting a young girl before Sarah’s murder.
It was also revealed that he raped two women, with the assaults only being discovered after his arrest for Sarah’s murder.
Sarah Everard’s tragic story serves as a reminder of the importance of justice and safety for all individuals, especially in the face of such heinous crimes.
