A 32-year-old guy was found guilty of stealing a motorcycle at Spot “M” Ofankor in Accra and was sentenced to one day in jail by the Achimota Circuit Court.

The court imposed a three-month jail sentence and a GH¢1,200 fine on John Adonu, also known as Task Force.

The motorbike was ordered to be released to Asante Boamah, the complainant, by the court. Adonu entered a guilty plea while being detained on a theft accusation.

Based on Adonu’s own plea, the court presided over by Mr. Isaac Addo found him guilty.

When imposing Adonu’s sentence, the court stated that it took into account the fact that the defendant was a young guy and a first-time offender.

The offender had expressed regret, the court heard, and the stolen motorcycle had also been located.

The complainant is an Okada Rider, and the accused, who lives in Nsawam, is a member of a task force in the Eastern Region, according to the prosecution, which is led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Stephen Ahiale.

By 1:00 am on February 12, 2024, ASP Ahiale reported that the complainant had worked through the night and was fatigued.

The complainant parked his Apsonic Motor bike, registration number M-N-GT3853, at Ofankor Spot “M” close to Total Filling, according to the prosecution, and then made the decision to take a nap on a table nearby.

The complainant, according to the prosecutor, parked the motorcycle next to his sleeping area but neglected to secure it.

The prosecution claims that when the complainant parked the car, the accused and two other people were there.

According to ASP Ahiale, the complainant fell asleep shortly after the other two departed the area. The accused then took advantage of the circumstance and stole the motorcycle.

According to the prosecution, Adonu rode the motorcycle to Nsawam, where he sold it to a friend in Adeiso for GH¢3,000. He then received GH¢1,500 as partial payment.

According to the prosecution, after the complainant made his inquiries, he discovered that Adonu was the one who had stolen the motorcycle.

Adonu’s luck ran out on February 21, 2024, when he was taken into custody at the Ofankor Police Station by the complainant.

Alfred Tay, a friend of Adonu, hurried to Adeiso and took the motorcycle back from the person who had obtained it fraudulently. However, the motorbike’s receiver managed to get away. Adonu acknowledged the offense in his statement to the police.
