Buddy Duress, the talented actor known for his roles in Safdie Brothers films, tragically passed away last November at the age of 38.

His brother, Christopher Stathis, revealed this week that Duress died from “cardiac arrest from a drug cocktail.”

The news of Duress’ death was shared on social media by director Jay Karales, who worked with the actor on the upcoming film “Mass State Lottery.”

Karales, also known as LowRes Wünderbred, fondly remembered Duress as “an absolute treasure” and praised his authenticity and charisma on screen.

Born in Queens, New York, in May 1985, Duress made his acting debut in the Safdie Brothers’ film “Heaven Knows What” in 2014.

He later appeared in the critically acclaimed “Good Time” alongside Robert Pattinson, showcasing his talent and captivating presence.

Despite his success in the film industry, Duress faced personal struggles and legal issues.

His life was marked by a series of run-ins with the law, including arrests for various charges. In a 2019 article, he was described as a talented actor who struggled to stay out of trouble.

Duress leaves behind his brother Christopher and his mother Jo-Anne. His untimely death is a loss to the entertainment world, and his legacy as a talented and authentic actor will be remembered by many.
