Actor Prince David Osei, who is well-known in Ghana, has spoken out against public figures who deny their political connections, calling such actions arrogant.
David used his social media platform to criticize celebrities who claim to be nonpartisan and to emphasize that joining a political party is not a sign of weakness.
David used Twitter to deliver his message, criticizing those who advocate for neutrality and saying, “It’s absurd to hear people in Ghana claim they don’t participate in politics because everyone is involved in it.” It’s time for us to quit deceiving ourselves.
He called for openness and said that people are not adversaries because they embrace the same political party or set of beliefs.
The actor urged tolerance while highlighting the pervasiveness of hypocrisy in a variety of social contexts, including the church and the gutters.
Prince stated “Everyone in Ghana is involved in politics, so it’s ridiculous when I hear people say they don’t. It is about time we stop lying to ourselves. Everyone supports a political party or political ideology.
“This doesn’t mean we are enemies. Hypocrisy is everywhere, from the church to the gutters. Support what you want and let others support what they want. Why have issues with others because they support something you don’t? Yet you support something else and they are okay with it. Tolerance.”
Ghanaian musician Kwame Nsiah-Apau, better known by his stage name Okyeame Kwame, has stated that he is not a member of Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia’s Manifesto Committee and has stressed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is not his political party.
Okyeame Kwame reiterated his vow to stay impartial throughout his career in a press statement dated February 24, 2024, claiming he has not been paid for his work on the committee.
The musician said he would be willing to work with other political parties that wanted to take advantage of his experience in the entertainment sector.
“I want to reassure my esteemed audience and stress that I am still apolitical and nonpartisan, just as I have been throughout my whole professional life.
He said, “I have not received payment from H.E. The Vice President’s campaign team to serve on the committee for the arts and tourism manifesto, nor have I received an official invitation to participate as a nonpartisan on my terms.”
It is believed that Prince David Osei was responding to a press release that Okyeame Kwame had released.
