Nevertheless, actress Vicky Zugah has disclosed that many victims of sexual harassment and abuse in the industry are reluctant to share their experiences due to public criticism and skepticism.
In an interview with Showbiz A-Z on JoyFM, she clarified that while people are generally encouraged to share their stories, particularly when people are asked for sex in exchange for roles, they cannot guarantee the support they will receive or the response they will receive.
“You are messing up with people who are married. When you name and shame people, they tell you, “These are people who have moved on, are married, are in relationships, and you are naming them, and this is in the past. You should move on yourself and get a life.”
On Saturday, the actress said to host Kwame Dadzie, “They say you are bitter because you are still single, which is why you are naming them.” You are unable to deal with people because you simply do not know how. No one can be pleased with you.” She exclaimed.
Other sexual harassment victims, Vicky Zugah continued, must not run the risk of being placed on a blacklist or having their experiences turned against them in the future.
“You, however, do not need to say these things on air or expose yourself like this because you will be blacklisted if you are a woman who aspires to be a politician or any other figure, or if you hope to get married someday,” the woman said. “In this part of the world, when you are this vocal, they think that you are not wife material.”
