The Electoral Commission (EC) made the bold and excellent decision to consider moving the national election date from December 7 to a working day in November beginning in 2028, and the entire Seventh-day Adventist Church in Ghana says and hits that it has accepted this decision.
However, the Church, in January, petitioned earlier to the Electoral Commission for an amendment to the December 7 elections. It was worked on successfully.
However, after broader and earlier consultations with the leadership and other high-ranking officers, the EC noted that its proposal to move the date for general elections from December 7 to November will not take effect this year.
In addition, the communication spokeswoman for the SDA church, Eld. Dr. Solace Yawa Asafo, in a statement on February 20, thanked the EC for its willingness to accommodate this exceptional and significant adjustment in the future. They are, in fact, grateful to hear the good transmissions.
“This development demonstrates the culture of communication and respect for one another that defines Ghana’s democratic environment,” the statement said.
The Seventh-day Adventist Church reiterated its commitment to constructive dialogue with all stakeholders to promote a democratic atmosphere that honors Ghana’s diverse religious landscape.
