Former President John Mahama is ill-prepared for the presidency, according to Francis Asenso-Boakye, Minister of Roads and Highways and Member of Parliament for the Bantama seat.
He saw Mr. Mahama’s previous statements that he would want a “honeymoon period” if elected in 2025 as evidence of his lack of readiness and his unwillingness to take immediate action to address the problems facing the country.
During the celebration of Samuel Abu Jinapor’s election as the parliamentary candidate for Damongo in the Savanna region, Asenso-Boakye, speaking at a New Patriotic Party (NPP) event, emphasized the importance of Ghanaians electing Vice President Dr. Bawumia, the NPP’s presidential candidate for the December election, citing his preparedness and active participation in governance.
“Former President John Mahama’s statement regarding needing a honeymoon period indicates his lack of preparedness for the job,” Asenso-Boakye asserted. “We cannot entrust our nation to someone who seeks to delay action while leadership is urgently needed.”
In contrast, Asenso-Boakye praised Dr. Bawumia’s readiness, stating, “Dr. Bawumia will hit the ground running from day one, addressing the challenges facing our nation with his bold solutions.”
With hope for the NPP’s future progress, Asenso-Boakye called on Ghanaians to honor the party’s labors by endorsing its nominees.
Additionally, he praised Damongo MP Samuel Abu Jinapor as a hardworking young leader committed to the advancement of his constituency and urged supporters to support him in the 2024 elections to ensure the region’s continuous development.
Prominent NPP figures gave speeches at the occasion, including Justin Frimpong Koduah, the party’s general secretary, Hon. Stephen Asamoah Boateng, Minister for Chieftaincy and Culture, and Fatimatu Abubakar, the minister-designate for information.
