Frank Aidoo, the Municipal Chief Executive of Akuapem South, has angrily denied any involvement in the railway track theft that has occurred within the municipality.
The Pakro community’s irate citizens recently stopped a vehicle that was transporting pilfered railroad lines and dumped them in the center of the neighborhood.
Following a meeting between the MCE and the community, which requested increased vigilance to assist solve the issue of railway track theft, this action was taken.
Then, on January 15, 2024, Mr. Frank Aidoo sent a letter to the Ministry of Railway Development pleading for immediate action to stop the theft of train lines.
To look into and catch the offenders, he also alerted the Eastern Regional Police leadership, the Eastern Regional Minister, and the local police.
Recent reports that falsely claimed the MCE was involved in cutting and selling railway metals to scrap merchants are completely contradicted by these acts.
Mr. Frank Aidoo explained that these accusations were baseless and meant to damage his reputation, especially in the run-up to the Akuapem South parliamentary primary, which he is running for.
Railroad track theft is still a problem in the country; occurrences are happening more frequently in some areas, such as the Eastern Region.
Despite this, the Railways Authority has come under fire for not taking firm action against offenders.
The Akuapem South Assembly’s efforts to resolve this matter demonstrate their dedication to guaranteeing the integrity and safety of the municipality’s railway infrastructure.
