Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana helped Southampton defeat Huddersfield Town 5-3 in the English Championship on Saturday following a protracted injury layoff.

In the 71st minute at St. Mary’s Stadium, Stuart Armstrong was replaced by Sulemana, a substitute who hadn’t featured since late November. The 20-year-old’s return to action fits in with Southampton’s victorious Premier League comeback campaign.

Huddersfield took the lead through a goal from Sorba Thomas in the 36th minute, and just before halftime, David Kasumu doubled the lead. However, Southampton mounted a valiant comeback in the second half, and Joe Rothwell scored twice in as many minutes to tie the score.

In the 65th minute, Alex Matos gave Huddersfield their lead back, but Tom Lees’ own goal gave Southampton a chance to tie the score.

Subsequent goals in the 84th and 90th minutes, respectively, from Skou Mara and Samuel Edozie cemented the hosts’ triumph.

Southampton will be hoping to maintain their momentum and aim for a strong season finale now that Sulemana is back in action.

With this kind of performance, the team, which is currently ranked second in the championship table, should be able to make a run at the top flight.
