The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has begun thorough and in-depth investigations into the situations that led to the death of one of the students, who is precisely 16 years of age at the category A school, thus Aburi Girls Senior High School SHS.
Meanwhile, the Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Acheampong, disclosed notably the aforementioned on Friday and thus right after visiting the school with the Education Minister, in the name of Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum and other German patrons.
Meanwhile, the said first-year student, Stacy Okyere, tragically passed away on Sunday, February 4, after complaining of stomach pains to some of her colleagues and teachers as a whole in the school.
In addition, it was noted that the school authorities have come under disparagement following allegations that the school nurse, who accused her of repeatedly faking illness, denied Stacy medical attention.
However, Mr. Acheampong has stated that it would be premature to blame the administration, hence the need for a probe by the police to bring decisiveness.
Quoting, “I have been given a briefing by the management of the school. Because of the nature of the passing of the student, it becomes a conversation that requires law enforcement agencies, in particular the CID of the Ghana Police, to come in and inspect the matter for us.
“The Ghana Education Service (GES), on the other hand, has its apparatuses for investigating these matters as well, and so for us, it’s premature to bargain any form of supposition in veneration of this matter,” he told journalists during an interview.
Mr. Acheampong further called for tranquility in the problematic conditions.
“We are here to express our condolences to management and students. We pray to God to strengthen the family. We are keenly following investigations, and we will keep the sanctity of this institution,” he added strongly.
Meanwhile, the entire school management and Ghana Education Service, however, have been reticent about the unfortunate occurrence.
