Samuel Dubik Mahama, the director of Ghana’s Electricity Company, disclosed that he no longer attends public ceremonies like as marriages and funerals.
He clarified that this was because, in many cases, when there is a power outage, people blame him and the company even if the cause is actually their own meter credits running out. This has made him uneasy going to these kinds of occasions.
He said on Peace FM that he even stays away from church in order to avoid picking little altercations with individuals who are angry about power struggles. Mr. Mahama stated that he would like to stay at home and avoid such circumstances.
He made these remarks during a conversation about the difficulties the Ghanaian Electricity Company is now facing, namely in relation to the ongoing national meter audit.
Mr. Mahama underlined the need of addressing these problems while also highlighting the difficulties he himself encounters while attending public events because of the public’s annoyance with power outages.
