Randy Abbey, a member of the Ghana Football Association’s Executive Committee, has stated that the GFA hopes to collaborate with Kobbie Boateng Mainoo, a midfielder for Manchester United, in the future.
He stated this in an interview with The Times, a UK media outlet, following Mainoo’s standout performance in Manchester United’s exciting 4-3 English Premier League victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The 18-year-old gave Manchester United the vital victory ahead of a big match against West Ham on Sunday, February 4 at Old Trafford, by curling the ball into the bottom left side of the net in the 97th minute after eluding three defenders.
Mainoo, who is of Ghanaian descent through his parents, is eligible to represent Ghana even though he has represented England at the Under 16 and 17 levels. The GFA hopes that this possibility will materialize.
“Kobbie is unquestionably one of these amazing talents, and the Association will love working with him and many others both domestically and internationally.”
After scoring his first goal at the senior level against Newport County in the FA Cup, Mainoo was recently voted the Manchester United Player of the Month Award for January.
